Jason McIntosh is the founder of Motion Trader, and has been investing in markets for over three decades. His career began at the Sydney headquarters of Bankers Trust, a Wall St investment bank. He’s also co-founded two stock advisory services and a funds management business.

In 2007, Jason left the “big end of town” to trade and invest from home. He uses custom algorithms to search the ASX for recurring patterns and emerging trends. Jason then uses this information to manage his family’s investment portfolio.

Jason is self-made and self-sufficient. The last pay cheque he received from an employer was in June 1999 (when he left Bankers Trust). He’s been doing his own thing ever since.

Motion Trader is a comprehensive data driven trading system that analyses over 2,000 ASX stocks. We do all the calculations and provide you with a shortlist of high potential candidates. Members then decide which opportunities are right for them.

There are many ways to decide which stocks to buy. Some members use our buy signals as a prompt to do further research. They then do their own fundamental analysis to zero in on stocks that are right for them. Others look at a company’s size, industry, or dividend history, while others simply invest in the first stock the algorithms identify when they have available capital.

There’s no right or wrong. Just what works best for you.

It’s important to remember that you don’t need to buy every signal (no one does). Motion Trader analyses practically every ASX stock (except ETFs and LICs). It narrows the possibilities down to a concentrated list of opportunities for members to choose from.

We generally suggest working towards a diversified portfolio of at least 20 stocks. The strategy is to have many relatively small trades, not a few big ones. This helps to spread risk and increase the chances of investing in several strong performing stocks.

A key feature of the service is that every buy signal has a calculated exit stop. This is the point where you sell a stock and record a profit or loss. Successful investing is more than picking the right stocks… it’s also about knowing when to sell.

The exit stop will potentially change each week (according to movements in the share price). We do all the calculations and give you the latest selling levels via a weekly portfolio update. While no one knows what the market will do next, a calculated exit stop means that you know what you’ll do. This helps remove some of the uncertainty and stress from investing.

Motion Trader’s strategy is to exit stocks that are falling and to let profits run. The daily email (as shown above) also includes an exit summary for the day. This lists any stocks that have reached their selling point. Once sold, members can then reinvest the funds into the latest buy signals. The service is designed to help you manage your portfolio with ease.

You don’t need special software to use the service. All the calculations are done at our end after the market closes. We then send you research that’s ready to action through your broker.
